Do I need a fishing license if I live out of state?

Yes.
1.  Nonresident fishing license
Nonresidents who are 16 years of age or older are required to have Florida freshwater and/or saltwater fishing license except as listed below...

Out-of-state fishing licenses are not valid in Florida.

A fishing license is required to attempt to take fish.  If you cast your line or catch and release, you need a license.  A saltwater fishing license is also required to attempt to take any native or nonnative marine organisms, such as crabs, lobsters, and marine plants.

You are not required to have a fishing license if:

  • you are under the age of 16;
  • you are fishing from a chartered vessel (fishing charter trips have you covered);
  • you are fishing from a licensed fishing pier.
